Six Flags Great America World
Park History

Six Flags Great America opened on May 29, 1976. It was just one of two twin parks one in Illinois, and the other in California. They were both owned by the Marriott Hotel Corp. In the late 1980's the parks were sold. The one in Illinois went to Six Flags and the other to Paramount Pictures. Today SFGAM (Six Flags Great America) has brought their coaster count up to 12 for the 2001 season. The 2001 season was the most record breakin season in Great America's history. They added two world class roller coasters in just one season. Who know's what is to come for the 2002 season.

Note: Paramount's Great America is located in Santa Clara, California and still has some of the same roller coasters as Six Flags Great America.
